They Sold Themselves

"They have sold themselves" ... Thats some criticism i heard from my friend about some popular metal band.
Its funny to hear that from a person who made a band just to get popular...or something...

Have you recently seen a lot of bands who gather just to play in a group and enjoy it?
I didn't.

I was invited to play on guitar into a band
I thought it will be fun
But from the start it look like a show-off

Play with some people i dont know? Sure, whats the problem, i dont care to meet new people!
But t0 grab every performance ..just to perform?
"Dude, there is not even one song we can play normally together!"

Really fast i started to hate this whole idea of gathering and learning songs asap just because we need to perform somewhere.. (Not like we get paid, some free performances, just to get known)

I just left.
It was boring to play with the band, i didn't like this whole idea.
I was expecting some playing with my friends JUST FOR FUN
To play things that we like
To jam some shit and polish it into some cool stuff

Now they try to get in to a studio to record a song/songs?
Some crappy songs that ...ehm.... suck horribly?!
Come on guys... Stop the grind for popularity/money...
Are there people who gather to play just for fun?!!

Making a music into your money/popularity source is just ...wrong...
Specially when you aim for it at the start, when you are "nothing"....
And IMHO (didnt do the statistics) groups like that will fail after all anyway...
